Sometimes it crosses my mind if people are :

1)purely under the influences of others OR

2)"kiasu" OR

3) copy cat

Let me show you a scenario:

Not long ago, someone named K purchases a mobile phone because the previous mobile got some problem with the WAP although she confess that she just had bought it abt. a year ago.SO she went for a scout and founded a mobile phone that have come to her likings. She also ask some people if this model she fancy over is worth buying…..and we say yes,if it is what you are looking for.So she made the purchase.

A few days later,H also got a new mobile phone from her bf exactly the same model K bought. Later both of them compare the prices & K found out that she has purchase at a higher price than H.(surely K felt hurt abt.the price).

The next week, C also purchase a new mobile phone finally after considering for some time to change the mobile phone to a newer model.The purchase was a different model from the two of them……but all of them also bought Sonny Erricson .

Wow…the speech gave by the toastmasters was great. It wasn’t like the normal speech that will bored you to death,it was interesting and a bit hilarious.If it was me up there in the stage,it will be a different story.I think I will be very nervous until people will spot that I’m nervous. ^^ ‘ . Anyway, public speaking is not my cup of tea. If anybody is interested in polishing their skills in public speaking and improving their English, then Toastmasters should be a good choice.

The toastmasters of Bayan Baru had their dinner at Vistana to celebrate their 10th anniversary  at 18 Feb. I had the opportunity to see some of the  speakers delivering their speech.

The 14th Day of CNY – 11/2/06

To celebrate ‘Cap Goh Meh’ as well as Valentine Day.

It happens to falls on Thaipusam also so the road was a bit jam. I meet up with the girls at Palace of India for dinner. Personally I think the food there taste okay but the price of the food is a bit expensive compare to “Little India” where there is a lot of shops selling Indian food also. For those who don’t mind to spend an extra ringgit, then it shouldn’t be a problem as the atmosphere is quite romantic as it is a bit dim with lanterns hanging around. It also has a live band there singing multiple languages. (not bad for an Indian concept restaurant) It rains on that day but, luckily it stop later in the night. If not we couldn’t have gone for a walk at the Batu Feringghi for the hunt of ……….(heh,heh,no need for me to say, I think some of you already know by now ; ) )

The 15th Day of CNY (Cap Goh Meh) – 12/2/06

Today is the last night of the CNY celebration. People associate it with the Chinese Valentine Day but there is another Chinese Valentine that falls on 7th Day of the 7th Month of the Chinese Lunar calendar base on a legendary story of girl weaver & cow herder. According to the tradition at the night of Cap Goh Meh single ladies will be throwing mandarin oranges into the sea in order to get a good husband while single man will be throwing drum in order to get a good wife. *tim kam tan ho ang ,tim cor tan hor bor* However in this modern day of Penang, we no longer throw into the sea anymore. Instead there are 10 pretty ladies on the stage throwing mandarin oranges to the sea of people at Penang Chinese Town Hall. Instead of going to the event, I stay at home finishing the new year cookies with the rest of the family members. For the past 15 day of CNY,I think I’m having what I called “CNY syndrome” where one will be eating a lot during the first few days of CNY and continue with tid-bits and cookies for the rest of the others day.Not to forget that there is a lot of houses that is practicing the ‘yam seng thingy’, ‘fat choy thingy’ & ‘ping ping pang thingy’ once a year. Valentine Day

(Song:Love is in the air,everywhere I look…….)Oh,yeah! I was planning a surprise for my mom ok? I thought this is the year I should give her a treat instead of the usual Mother’s Day only. As you all know V’Day has become to commercialized and Westernized in Malaysia and it will cost a bomb to dine and to buy gifts. I thought it will be more meaningful to celebrate V’day on the 7^th month of the 7^th day of the Chinese Lunar calendar with your other significant half. According to this date, this is the day that COWHERD MEETS WEAVER GIRL and they get to meet each other once a year only. How touching!

Comming back to V’Day it is also the time of the year we celebrate with our loves one,but of course it wouldn’t need to be on Feb 14 to proclaim your love but any other day also can.

But then again…..why is everybody jumping in the bandwagon to celebrate this day? Maybe somewhere inside our heart this day gives us the courage to profess your love, and hope that the other party will reciprocate. In a sense it also helps you to prepare mentally, that you won’t feel that shocked when someone u love or a secret admirer tells you how they feel about you. If somehow you failed, it wouldn’t sound so bad after all as others are doing the same thing this very day and at least you know that you have give it a try.

Singles that is alone this day, don’t feel lonely today as this is your day to pamper your self. Have a good bubble bath with scented candle and soft music, or go to the SPA for a massage, watch your favourite movie with a bag of tit-bits or indulge in a food that you normally don’t. Hang out with your other single friends or pay a visit to your family. After all this is the day of LOVE itself, so why don’t you Love Yourself First?

Cat out of the bag….

It was suppose to be a surprise for my mom on V’day. I was planning to bake a choc. cake and had even bought  all the ingredients needed by storing it inside a cupboard. But whatcha u know? She had FOUND the things I keep there. SO she ask me:

Mom: Was that flour, baking powder and etc all yours?

Me: Hmmm?(pretending I didn’t know)

Mom: The things that keep at the lower cupboard.

Me: Oh?…….Yeah.!.It’s mine……how u figure it out is mine?

Mom: It’s obvious. Are you planning to bake choc. cake ?

Me: How do u know I was going to bake choc. cake

Mom: The ingredients I found inside also includes choc. so I know.

Mom: When u baking the cake then?Cap Goh Meh or V’Day?And what abt. that bottle of red wine in the fridge?

Me: (Thinking it was no point trying to cover up might as well tell her it was for her on V’Day otherwise she will be expecting it for the Cap Goh Meh) The cake was for Valentine Day and to go with the red wine.

( the conversation continues with her abt. the red vine pulak……….)

Ooops!After having the conversation with her, she told me that there is still a few bottles of red wine that she keeps cause it tastes bitter. Aiyah! I shouldn’t have bought that brand of wine, because I  was easily persuaded by the sales girl only then I bought it. My first choice was the sweet red wine or champagne cause I know mom will love to try it. Hopefully that brand I bought didn’t come to strong as the others do, if not, I think nobody can finish it or it will end up in the storage just like the rest. (Gulp! Swallowing my saliva,) Plus, the day after the V’day is a working day I don’t want my family members to go drunk then.(Hahahaha)And will the choc. cake turn out fine?

8th Day of CNY - 5/2/06

Praying to the Heavenly God

Every time when the sound of a big “BOOM” I will jumped at it. Yeap! That is the sound of the firecrackers (lee kong pau.) and it gives out the loudest noise of all the other firecrackers I think. (unless u found out that there is other firecracker that has louder sound than that.)

That day,my friend invited a bunch of us over to her place at Jelutong to pray to Tnee Kong.

It is said that it is an important day for the Hokkiens as we thanks Tnee Kong for our safety when our ancestors hide in the sugarcane plantation for 9 days and came out unharmed from a general who wanted to kill our ancestors.

9th Day of CNY - 6/2/06

Power Failure in This Hot Season.

My place was one of the affected area of the power failure between 6.20pm -7.30pm.It was so hot in my house and with this kind of weather this few days it doesn’t help at all.There is nothing I can do in the house, so I went for a jog at least it wasn’t as stuffy as staying at home.However the power was restored back by the time I got back. Yay!

The hot season is here to stay until Mac.(Hmmph)

In this hot season,I noticed that:

- there is a lot of blood thirsty vampire appearing in my house that is the mosquitoes.

(haha, i think need to stock up more mosquitoes coil or spray)

-there is more people getting sick.

(nothing can be done execept,drink more water,or drink something with coolling effect for the body. Eg:barli ,chrysanthemum. Ummm….and no more chocolates for me?  :P  )

-at 7.30pm it looks brighter than the usual 7.30pm in the last few mths.

(muakhaha,i can go home later. )

-it could be drizzling in a sunny day.

Nana’s Birthday.

Today Nana celebrated her 92nd birthday and we celebrated with her.I like to wish her healthy always and happiness.

13th Day of CNY - 10/2/06

Public Holiday Tommorow

Tommorow is Thaipussam(sat),and somewhere near my working place today will be a massive traffic jam as the silver chariot will be carry to a temple at the Botanical Garden area and back the next evening on the Sun .Last year I was stuck at the jam for 2 hrs although I normally took abt. 15-30mins to reach home depending on the traffic situation.Hopefully I can avoid the the jam this year.(Haih  ~^^ )

CNY Eve - 28/1/06

Cleanning stil…

-bummer! Have to work on New Year Eve untill 1 noon.

-still doing some cleaning until 11pm.

-rest & relax at 12 midnight.Sleep at 2am for watching CNY programmes on Astro.

1st Day of CNY -29/1/06

Coming to our place.

- relatives come visiting at our place because we are with grandma,so stayed at home the whole day.

2nd Day of CNY -30/1/06

Going for visit….

- went to colleague open house in the afternoon.

- went visiting (pai chneah) at relatives at Sg.Seluang with the family till late in the afternoon untill 11pm nite.

- a walk at Kek Lok Si Temple at 12 something nite…..still got a lot of people there although it is late already.The view at nite of Kek Lok Si Temple was so beautiful…..to bad I didn’t bring  the camera along. Sleep at 2am.

3rd Day of CNY -31/1/06

Visiting….

- went shopping for electrical goods with Joline for Honey’s house warming party that we didn’t go. Really feel "paiseh" to her cause all of us that she invite also didn’t go.

- Honey invited us for steamboat dinner at her house, together with her husband and some relatives.

(usual stuff happens on CNY- eating cookies,chit-chatting & gambling)

4th Day of CNY - 1/2/06

Still visiting…..

- KL relatives that went to SG.Seluang family gathering also come to stay with us for a night.

- Went for lunch & dinner outside.Went to Kek Lok Si Temple at noon.Traffic jam from Kek Lok Si,no parking space also,& human traffic in Kek Lok Si Temple.

SO we resorted to parked our car at Hu Yu Sia and walk all the way there. Pity my relatives who have to walk so far……cause when we reach the temple there,there is a cable car to to the Bronze Kuan Yin but we didn’t took it.Instead we walk up again.

-going to meet friends at SegaFredo after dinner.Luckily it was cancel as I’m tired also….so I was glued to the TV and sleep at 1am

5th Of CNY - 2/2/06

No more holiday…..

-Have to start work today.Was feeling kind of sleepy cause sleep late for a few days in a row. Right now try to catch up with some zzZZZZ….

7th of CNY - 4/2/06

People’s B’day( Ren De Shen Ri) …

- Everyone’s birthday today. As Chinese will eat raw fish (yee sang) or noodles today. (mee sua not maggi mee   : P  )For me,we at the mee sua cause on the reunion we already had the raw fish(yee sang).

Street Festival/National Open House….

- Afternoon went to the Street Festival or the ‘Majlis Buka Rumah’ (Open House) abt 5.15pm.It wasn’t same like the Open House held by the minister where one goes to the place and get to eat free….This Open House is more alike the Street Festival where they give us a glimpse of the Chinese Culture.

- watch Korean Movie "My little Bride" after came back from the carnival abt 8.45pm.

8th Day of CNY - 5/2/06

Bloggers Gathering at Prangin Lane…

- As usual,on Sun I have to work until 4pm.Then I  droped by at the bloggers meeting on the 8th Prangin Lane that starts on 2pm. First time attending the gathering and I was already very late for the meeting as I reach there abt. 4.30pm then.(Paiseh..^^").By the time I arrived there most of the bloggers have went back already and I miss the part on the briefing of podcasting.(Oow.. ^^")But they were kind enough to to explain to me what is podcasting roughly abt. (Hehehe…to my understanding it is sort blogging also just that it uses voice recording and podcast it to people.Just like a simplified radio station if I’m not mistaken…then u can choose whose podcasting or "radio station" u want and download it using I-tunes)

Up to date, there is 20 people attending the gathering instead of 16 ppl I have heard on that day.Heard that this gathering  have the largest turn out.( Job well done then! ;)  ). Nope I don’t have the list of the attendance here, but I read it  in one of the bloggers blog.Sorry I forget whose blog it was cos I was opening to many windows simultaneously and accidentaly closed that blog when I was abt. to copy the URL. ( Pity…^^’)

From what I know the discussion are:

- introduction of podcasting,live podcasting going on and some encouragement for bloggers to do some podcasting. Go to Penang Podcast if u want to know more abt. Podcasting itself.http://penangpodcast.blogspot.com/

- suggestion on putting a site up for bloggers to voice up their concern on the public issues as a team instead of an individual.

- some workshop for beginners who wants to blog.

- exchange of some ideas of blogging.

- technology that we have today,that we cld utililies.Eg: Skype,Fiber optic cable for faster connection,Net meeting,Webcam etc. (hehe…I’m not that hi-tech yet on this knowledge though…as some technical jargon use I also have know idea)

- venue for the next gathering???( Hahaha…..too early to decide yet.)

Although I was late, I think it is BETTER LATE THEN NEVER for attending the gathering.As I saw it as a chance to equip myself better to the world of blog and to listen to what they have to say from the seniors. Seniors la…..of course as they start blogging longer than I know. I’m still a newbie as I started blogging like 3 or 4 mths ago only.I’m still trying to figure out how to link this and that, change the template,how to convert file to gif,jpeg or whatsoever, attach music or video to it but due to time constraint as I don’t have a computer at home to play around with the applications.So it is very nice that to know that we have a bloggers gathering to exchange ideas and able to get instant feedback on some problems and solutions some bloggers faced

The map is out finally. I forget that it cannot support the doc. file like Execel.So i have to print,take pic, and download.(Aiyo..chin cham this char bor ^^")

What a shocking news! Today the Utusan reported that there is a SPA & Sauna hse. operated for gays only in KL. Waaahh…din’t expected got some people dared enough to operate this kind of business.U know la…things abt.homosexual is a hush,hush or taboo issue here not like in the US. Maybe because of these they have no where to turn to  when they discovered that the opposites didn’t attract any more.So  I guess they didn’t have much of support here to help them to to walk the straight road again.
